I had to post this one to brag on my boys. The professor from Boise State who is doing research on chukars and one of her students wanted to go on a chukar hunt. She had never hunted behind dogs before.
Neither Jake or Grady has ever hunted with anyone but Conner or me. Although no birds were taken I was pretty proud of how my boys performed. Here’s Grady.
Hunting has been a favorite past time for me for 55 years but the last twenty five years I have been consumed by chukar hunting and more specifically chukar hunting with fantastic dogs. In this blog I hope to pass on any information I can about chukar hunting but more than anything I want to showcase what will probably be my last two chukar dogs, Jake and Grady. I am 70 years old, Jake is 8 and Grady is 3 and I'm hoping to stay on the chukar mountain until I am 80 when Grady will be fetching my final chukars.

Good on you. And better way for someone who is studying chukar to see them in the wild.
I speak at their class every year while they are disecting birds. I talk about the fun of hunting chukars with dogs and the rewards we get out of it. The dogs did a great job of showing off.

Boise State folks got a good workout on that hunt and up close and personal with the chukar — mission accomplished!
