There’s finally another rainbow forming over Grady and myself. I’ve had a couple of rough years with my back limiting my chukar hunting some. Grady has had some ear and throat issues that are now under control. Both of us have been down with the loss of Jake. But things have been changing quite aContinue reading “Excited again”

Luck
I don’t often write about a specific hunt, but this one became a special one for several reasons. First off, the number of birds that we have harvested in a year has dropped dramatically. From what I have seen and heard, the birds just aren’t out there this year. My hunts have seen fewer birdsContinue reading “Luck”
Picking a pup
I’m sure that everyone who reads this post has gone through the process of picking a hunting partner for chasing one kind of bird or another. I’ve been there 8 times before and each time something in my life has changed to make the process a little different for me. This time it’s my age.Continue reading “Picking a pup”
Still kicking
It’s been a while, and I don’t even know if this site is still active, but with a few things that have happened recently I thought I might give it a try. First off, everything is going great for this old chukar hunter. The doctors have done great wonders on my back and I’m ableContinue reading “Still kicking”
A little relief
The 2024 chukar season was quite a downer for me. Seems like I was always being a puss about something. The back thing really set me back but the surgeon said for me to let the pain be my guide to what I could do. Jake’s hips are too bad for a hard chukar huntContinue reading “A little relief”
Envious
Seeing all of those success pictures. I’m envious but still having some fun with the cane and camera.
Huns with a cane.
Looks like they haven’t shut my blog yet. Finally getting out at least with a cane. Doctors orders to only stay on roads with cane. I tried hard but as all of you know, you can’t walk off and leave your dog on point. So I did a little cross country very carefully. You canContinue reading “Huns with a cane.”
Good times
I wish this blog was about me and the good times I am having. But it’s not. I’m sitting here watching videos again and wishing I could be out there chukar hunting. I just watched another video called “BANGER CHUKAR HUNT” by Eric Forrester. I don’t know the guy and am not trying to promoteContinue reading “Good times”
Slow times
It’s hard sitting in this inversion looking at the hoar frost on the trees knowing that up on the chukar hill it is probably blue sky, but that’s what the dogs and I are stuck doing. I got my si joints fused Wednesday and will be on crutches for at least the next two weeks.Continue reading “Slow times”
Hold
Just to let you know, I’ve been getting out some and finding great or good numbers of chukars and huns. I haven’t been packing the camera but today I learned something about the chukars. I’ve always thought that chukars were making some kind of sound before they take flight. I finally heard it today. GradyContinue reading “Hold”
