The weather turned snowy, windy and cold on us. But the dogs and I decided to try a hunt anyhow today. The wind had blown real hard yesterday and after the two hour drive we found a semi wind blown hill about a mile from the road and about 500 feet in elevation higher. Well it didn’t take long trying to buck the drifts to use the little smarts I have to head back to the truck. Besides it was ten degrees with a slight breeze that was freezing my nostrils together. Anyhow, I got to watch two Golden ealges put on a show on that burnt off hill I mentioned.
I watched these two big birds flying above the slope and some times take short dives towards the ground. I couldn’t see any chukars but wondered. Finally one of the eagles went up in elevation and the other took a flight along the slope. I saw a bunch of birds that I’m sure were chukars flush and suddenly the eagle from above tucked his wings and dove on the covey. He had to have been at least 5 hundred feet above the birds but was there in no time and nailed a bird. It happened so fast and was amazing to watch. I honestly feel the eagles were working in tandem for success. Maybe not but it was cool.
Before the real cold came out I got on a few hunts and here’s a success picture of one of them. I’ll be sitting at home waiting for the sun to start shining but chukar hunting is still the best way to spend a day outdoors.

Hope everyone is having a great 2024.
Timing is everything.. that would be very neat to see. Right place at the right time my friend. Great to see you having success this season.

Yes, timing is. And being out on the mountain as often as possible helps the timing. I’m lucky to be able to do that. Thanks for the response.
