Best of 2023

Like last year, once again I had an abbreviated season. 42 chukar trips. A long way from my 60 trip average per year. The year started great but slowed way down after my accident on Oct.15th. The dogs and I found ways of getting on the hill after I partially mended but it was a lot tougher getting around than in the past. But we managed and got some fine hunts in. Many of them combining gun and camera but towards the end of the season I decided to concentrate more on the dogs and gun and left the camera at home.

I kind of gave up the blogging but found out I missed talking chukar almost as much as chukar hunting. Hopefully, I’ll get back to it some. Meanwhile I hope you enjoy what I did get from 2023.

Hunting has been a favorite past time for me for 55 years but the last twenty five years I have been consumed by chukar hunting and more specifically chukar hunting with fantastic dogs. In this blog I hope to pass on any information I can about chukar hunting but more than anything I want to showcase what will probably be my last two chukar dogs, Jake and Grady. I am 70 years old, Jake is 8 and Grady is 3 and I'm hoping to stay on the chukar mountain until I am 80 when Grady will be fetching my final chukars.

  1. I’ve given up blogging several times, only to come back to it. Indeed, I’ve wiped out two prior versions of my blog completely, and then regretted it. Writing, basically, is stress relief somehow.
