Quads

One thing I forgot to mention in yesterdays post. My first shot was once again loaded with ashes from my past hunting dogs along with some lead shot. They once again helped me down a chukar. Those first loads are always fired at my first hunt and at a location close to where Tucker trained me on how to treat my canine hunting companions.

Also, when I awoke this morning, my quads were pretty sore. I remember back years ago, when I first started having bad back problems, my doctor tested my quads and said they were in the lower percentile for males of my age. A sympton quite often associated with weak backs. With all the mountain hiking I did, I was shocked to hear my quads were weak. But , I worked hard on them and that improved my back. So, you older gentlemen might keep that in mind before you hit the mountains. I know my legs gave me a good reminder to get back to doing some high leg steps during the day.

Looks like some rain is on the way next week to help scenting conditions for the dogs. Get out there and good luck.

Hunting has been a favorite past time for me for 55 years but the last twenty five years I have been consumed by chukar hunting and more specifically chukar hunting with fantastic dogs. In this blog I hope to pass on any information I can about chukar hunting but more than anything I want to showcase what will probably be my last two chukar dogs, Jake and Grady. I am 70 years old, Jake is 8 and Grady is 3 and I'm hoping to stay on the chukar mountain until I am 80 when Grady will be fetching my final chukars.
